Scheme

Supply and installation of a number of newly built energy centres for multiple new build housing developments.

Fuel type

We offer this solution in mains gas, LPG and oil, as well as our usual biomass systems. In this case we have installed two 500kW mains gas boilers, to deliver a 500kW load with full backup. We can provide options for oil, mains gas, biomass and electric if necessary.

The client sought a quick and reliable heating solution. Dunster designed and installed a pre-fabricated plant room complete with the gas boilers, flue system, spill press unit and tank, expansion vessel, system pumps, and pipework.

Our tailored, compact construction meant reduced disruption, time and build costs for the client. Dunster was able to meet the client’s objective of having an efficient yet affordable centralised heating system, providing heat to multiple dwellings.

System design and installation

The system has been designed to deliver centralised heat to a new build housing project, the intention is to provide 100% of the heating and hot water to each property through the district scheme.

The components are designed to ensure that back-up heat is delivered to all aspects of the system. To do this we have installed two 500kW Evomod boilers, with twin head pumps.

The energy centre is adaptable and can cater to higher heat demands as the site expands. We have left enough space and connection capability to install a further 500kW boiler, meaning combined delivery of 1mW with heat backup- all from this relatively small energy centre!

Benefits

According to the Department of Energy and Climate Change DECC (2013) centralised district heating can be both lower carbon and cheaper for consumers compared to traditional decentralised heating methods.  With district heating, consumers don’t have to service or maintain boiler systems for their property. It is an efficient and reliable heating system, recommended by the DECC.
