Dunster wins one of the first Froling CHP 50 installations in the UK
Dunster has won the contract to supply Southern Wood Energy with a Combined Heat and Power unit (CHP) in early 2016. The Froling CHP50 will supply all of the business’s electricity needs. Southern Wood Energy uses a large amount of electricity and heat during the manufacture of wood chip products that are supplied to a number of markets such as landscaping, bio-filters, animal bedding and horse ménages along with biomass chips.
The project is due to start in January 2016 with the installation expected to take just seven days on site. This reduced site time is achievable because the Fröling CHP50 is built off-site and supplied from the factory in a pre-commissioned container; ensuring that there is as little on-site disruption as possible, along with reducing on-site costs.
Dunster’s Managing Director, David Hugh-Smith commented:
“The Froling CHP50 is an exciting and significant development in the wood heat industry; bringing a reliable and proven small scale CHP system to the market.”
Large scale wood fuelled CHP solutions are well known, in the past small scale CHP has presented many more challenges. However, Fröling, a leading Austrian biomass boiler manufacturer have met these challenges and is now at the forefront of this market. The launch of the CHP50 in the UK comes on the back of many successful Austrian installations.
